Challenge Overview

Project Background

Prizes marked are placeholders - actual prizes depend on the bugs fixed.

Telemetry is a MVP project for one of our clients to help proactively identify “Network Slowness” and other network related complaints from the retail offices.  Each retail store has multiple iPads that are used to provision new and existing customers.

These iPads can be leveraged to run an “agent” that will periodically  (1) test the network latency by running icmp echo request to one or more configured hosts in the client’s network.  And (2) collect operational statistics on the iPad like CPU, signal strength, and memory usage.

These test will run in the background on configured intervals and the sales agent will be unaware.   These statistics will be gathered and spooled locally on the device until a second configured timer is reach and they are uploaded to a central server( henceforth referred to as "the server”).

Both the agent (iPad app) and the server have been developed by Topcoder crowdsourcing community.

This challenge if focused on fixing some issues in the iPad (Native iOS) App.

How It Works:

  1. You need to be registered on Gitab (see forums for how to access)

  2.  Go to the issue list and find an issue you wish to work. They will be labeled with:  Issues "Open for pickup"

You can only work the issues with a label for “Open for pickup”.
  3. When you find an issue, assign the issue to yourself, and change the label to “Assigned”

    1. If you feel the issue amount is too low, please make a comment on the issue saying what you feel the dollar amount should be.  Upon review, the copilot will edit the issue to reflect the new amount.

  4. Work the issue as normal, when you are done, change the label to “Ready for review”

  5. Once you mark the issue “Ready for review”, a copilot will review the issue and change it’s status appropriately.  Once the issue is marked as “Fix accepted”, the system will automatically pay you the dollar amount specified in the issue description.

  6. Note to developers:

    1. If you do not mark the issue as “Ready for review” within 12 hours, the issue will fall back to “Open for pickup” and anyone can pick the issue back up.

    2. If you need more time to work on an issue, leave a comment on the issue you want to work.
