Challenge Summary

Welcome to the International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month Design Challenge! In this challenge, we are looking to design a poster and an add to show our appreciate for the women within our community as well as showcase what Topcoder can do for working moms.

This is a great opportunity for all members to showcase their skills, and one fun and learning challenge experience for those that are just getting started in the Topcoder Community. Read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. Let us know if you have any questions in the challenge forum!

Please note that the top 25 designers will win a Topcoder Tshirt and up to 10 designers will win $100. We’re looking for your creative ideas and don’t forget to have fun!

Background Overview
For this challenge we have 2 themes from which you can pick to show in your designs:
-    Theme 1: Women in Tech
-    Theme 2: Working Moms Having it All

Theme 1: WOMEN IN TECH

International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month both fall in March and it is a great opportunity to show how much we appreciate women within our community as well as all those around the world who took a chance and jumped into Technology. We’d like to design a poster and an ad to highly inspire and encourage every girl to try the tech fields.

Requirements:
1.    For this challenge you can use any photos from our Flickr album with women within our community, but not from other stockphotos. You can make any illustrations based on that or used them as they are. When choosing photos, pick high resolution ones as the posters will be printed.
2.    You can use ONE of the following taglines per submission:
       a.    Dream Big
       b.    Not Just for Boys
       c.    #BalanceforBetter (tag origin)
       d.    Your suggested tagline
3.    We are looking for something unique that inspires at a glance. Think about using typography in a meaningful way.
4.    You must use the Topcoder logo in the poster

Theme 2: WORKING MOMS AT TOPCODER

For theme 2, we’d like to design a poster and an ad to showcase all that Topcoder can do for working moms! The flexibility Topcoder allows is a huge plus for women in technology who want a career and a family. This poster and ad will help them realize that Topcoder could be the place for them.

Requirements:
1.    For this challenge you can use any photos from our Flickr album with women within our community, but not from other stockphotos. You can make any illustrations based on that or used them as they are. When choosing photos, pick high resolution ones as the posters will be printed.
2.    You can use any of the following taglines:

       b.    Mother. Designer. Topcoder.

Submission Deliverables
Preview Image
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place your submissions within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections.

Submission File
All requested Contest Deliverables in JPG or PNG file format in RGB color mode at 72dpi.

Source Files
All original Sketch source files of the submitted design.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.

Screening:

All submissions are screened for eligibility before the challenge holder picks winners. Don't let your hard work go to waste. Learn more about how to  pass screening.
