Challenge Summary

Welcome to the "Fast 48Hr! Refresh Maze UX Testing Challenge". In this challenge, we are looking for you to provide some quick UX / Usability testing on a recently designed website of ours. There are 5 scenario that needs to be simulated in 3 different screen resolutions (you can use your computer for these 3 resolutions / no need different devices). We have captured the website screenshot and you will use the Maze tool to record/capture the UX testing. Make sure to review the challenge details and rules to follow the steps carefully. Ask any questions in the challenge forum and good luck!
CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION
  • UX Testing is a new challenge type at Topcoder and is open to anyone, not just designers
  • We are looking to get real-world testing on the usability of the designed website/application
  • It is important to note that this is a not fully functional application, but rather a design prototype (so just images and not code)
  • Because of this, we are not looking to test quality or the underlying code like our normal QA testing, but rather the general user experience
  • We are looking to gather some quick metrics and data and identify any potential issues early in the design process
  • To help with the UX testing we are using a 3rd party platform called "Maze"
  • The testing procedure and what they call "missions" will be completed on their platform
  • We still require you to submit to this challenge as proof of completion
  • This challenge is open for 48hours and anyone can join! Please read the challenge rules and process below carefully

CHALLENGE PROCESS
  • Because we are using a 3rd party platform for this challenge, the process is different than our normal challenges. However, if you are familiar with working on challenges that involve Gitlab/ Github, the concept will be somewhat familiar

REGISTER AND SUBMITTING FOR THE CHALLENGE
  • Request a testing URL in the challenge forum: https://apps.topcoder.com/forums/?module=ThreadList&forumID=694397
  • We will send 3 unique testing URL for each device to your email (the email you registered to Topcoder)
  • You can request for the testing URLs until submission phase ends (48 Hours)
  • Make sure you are ONLY using the unique URL send in your email to complete your testing
  • This unique URL will guide you to Maze and open up your unique testing "missions" or tests
  • The MAZE App is really user-friendly and will guide you through the process
  • After the submission phase ends, no testing URL will be sent anymore
  • Use Maze to go through each testing scenario. You MUST complete all testing scenarios in one sitting. You can NOT start the testing and then resume later. The test should not take your time too long to complete.
  • Once you are finished with the test you will land on a completion screen. This screen is your "submission" for the challenge. Take a screenshot of this screen and upload it to this challenge. This step is VERY IMPORTANT to make sure we are aware that you completed the challenge and testing.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS
  • There are 5 different scenarios that need to be tested in the Maze "Mission". You need to finish all these 5 missions at one go
  • If you found the Mission is too hard to complete, you can "give up" that mission and continue to the next mission. We want to test the user experience here, so it doesn't matter if you can or cannot complete the mission (give up) because this just means that the website has a good or bad user experience.
  • Please see the scenarios from this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lWVvgvcifn4KrMFY-feF35OoKTOZFAQ9xx_n2EJ2R0s/edit?usp=sharing
  • You will be able to see the Mission details too from the intro/beginning when you start the Maze mission
  • Each scenario have 3 screen resolutions that need to be tested (Desktop/web, Tablet, Mobile) - for the testing device, you only need to use your computer because we just want to test the general UX (no tablet or mobile device needed)
  • After finish all the testing, at the end of the testing page, you will see a feedback form, please provide any insight/critique/feedback about the website so we can improve the user and design experience in the future!

CHALLENGE RULES
  • You are only allowed to perform the testing once
  • Take the testing seriously. We will be monitoring each tester carefully.
  • Do not try to complete the test as quickly as possible. You are not being evaluated on speed. We need real-world data, so make sure you are reading each test carefully and then moving through the application in how you think you would complete the test. Remember we are testing the usability and user flows the application
  • Do not try to cheat by randomly clicking around the screens until something works. We will be monitoring for this type of behavior and you will be ineligible for a prize if you participate in this manner
  • 20 participants that successfully complete the test will receive a $20 payment

ELIGIBILITY
  • This challenge is open to anyone in the Topcoder community. Background and skill level are not a factor. Jump in and give it shot!

PRIZES
  • 20 placements at $20 each
  • We will select 20 participants that we think take the testing very seriously, provide useful feedback for the website, and finish the test (either complete all missions or give up doesn't matter as long you reach the end of test)
  • Only 1 payment per member/ participant (multiple submissions/test not accepted)
