Challenge Summary

Welcome to the very first user testing challenge for Topcoder the TC User Testing Pilot Challenge. We would like to invite you to try yourself as a tester to help us create a better product for you. To learn a bit about user testing first read these recent articles on the Topcoder Blog:
Challenge Objectives
  • 4 very easy user tasks to be carried out
  • Testing on Maze, a dedicated testing tool
  • Submit a zipped txt file with your handle

Project Background
  • UX Testing is a new challenge type at Topcoder and is open to anyone, not just designers.
  • We are looking to get real-world testing on the usability of the designed website/application.
  • It is important to note that this is a not fully functional application, but rather a design prototype (so just images and not code).
  • Because of this, we are not looking to test the quality or the underlying code like our normal QA testing, but rather the general user experience
  • We are looking to gather some quick metrics and data and identify any potential issues early in the design process

Link to the Test
Please register first to the challenge, then head to the challenge forum, where you will find the link of the test.

Users/Roles
The user in this challenge is you, the active Topcoder member regardless of track.

Operating Systems and Browsers
Since you will test through a web app you can participate regardless of your platform or browser.

Rules of the Challenge
  • The first 20 registrants who submit within 24 hours from the launch of the challenge will receive a $15 payment.
  • No rush on the tasks! Since the registration order and the validity of the submission will decide on who is going to get a placement, you can and we also ask yuto take your time while performing the tasks.
  • You may perform the test only once.
  • For a valid submission, you are required to complete all 4 tasks and all the pre-test and post-test questions.
  • Do not try to cheat by randomly clicking around the screens until something works. We will be monitoring for this type of behavior and you will be ineligible for a prize if you participate in this manner

Final Deliverables
Please submit a zip file with the following content
  • Write your Topcoder handle into a txt file.

  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.
