Challenge Summary

Widgets Use Cases & Features

1). Top 5 Applications with the most number of Exceptions.

  • They should be able to view and filter by the number of hours, days, and weeks.

  • The user should be able to drill down into each of those Top 5 Applications (Transportation Management App is an example of an application) and see the Top 5 Services (Order Handling, Inventory and Trips would be examples of services or modules within the Transportation Management App) within each of the apps that have the most number of Exceptions.

  • Note: Exceptions can be seen as a way of providing resilience, or tolerance to application. It allows the application to continue to behave normally even when things go wrong but at the same time report what went wrong.

2). Top 5 Applications with the most number of Logs.

  • They should be able to view and filter by the number of hours, days, and weeks.

  • They should be able to drill down into each of the Applications and see the logs.

3). Top 5 Applications with High Severity Exceptions.

  • They should be able to view and filter by the number of hours, days, and weeks.

  • They should be able to select and view any of those Top 5 Applications and drill down to see the Top 5 Services within the app that have these High Severity Exceptions.

4). Display applications that haven’t sent any logs in the last # of minutes/hours/days

  • The reason for this widget is that sometimes it could mean that there is some sort of problem if an application isn’t sending out any log data.

  • If an application hasn’t sent out any logs in a certain amount of time, there might be an issue that an IT person might need to look into.

5). Admin Widget

  • Total # of users

  • Total # of Applications running

  • Total # of log records

  • Total # of Exception records

6). Replay

  • Replay is when there is an error or problem, an application can make another attempt to run an operation just in case the error or problem has been resolved.

  • For example: if an application needs to access a database for a particular operation and the database is down, it will throw an error/exception. The operation will go into a cue to be replayed or to repeatedly try it again in a certain amount of time automatically to make another attempt to execute just in case the database is back up and running again. Or someone can manually go in and click the Replay button to manually try the operation again.

  • Create a widget or widgets that show:

    • Top 5 Applications with the most number of Auto Replays

    • Top 5 Applications with the most number of Manual Replays

    • Should also have the ability to create a custom group aside from the default Top 5

7). SNOW Incident Priorities

  • We need to show levels of exceptions. Example: Exception Levels are Severity 1, Severity 2, Severity 3

  • Show the Top 5 Applications with similar Exception Levels.  They should be able to view and filter by number of hours, days and weeks.

  • The user should be able to create a group of applications that they would like to monitor the Exception Priority Level. They should be able to view and filter by number of hours, days and weeks.

  • They should be able to select individual Applications and see the Exceptions.  They should be able to view and filter by number of hours, days and weeks.

8). Additional Widgets

  • We are also looking for ideas on additional widgets to the ones being requested. Create 1 or 2 more widgets that you think might be useful for this CLE application. This is pretty open and entirely up to you.

  • These are some widget Ideas from Previous F2F Code that can also be designed:  https://drive.google.com/open?id=1svFh00QjSfhZ2RvrMUKb5dLi_E1_qQlX
