Challenge Summary

Welcome to another LUX Challenge! The LUX is a "Live User Experience Design Challenge" that we like to run as a fast design challenge to get quick exploration and new concepts on a user experience problem.

We are looking for design concepts for a new Behavior Analysis Application. We are looking for some quick thoughts based on the provided user flow and wireframes. Remember the key to success in a LUX is to bring your ideas and to not color the wireframes.

This “LUX - Desktop Behaviour Analysis Application Design Concepts Challenge" will be run during the next 36 Hours. At the end of the challenge, we will take your presentation screens and share your collective creative talent with our audience!

The LUX Challenge Series provides you with an opportunity to show digital leaders from some of the largest brands in the world just how good your user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design skills are. LUX challenges are fast, fun, and have more chances for you to capture prize money.

Note: No previous experience in a LUX challenge is needed to compete - jump in and give it a try! Make sure to follow the challenge forum and ask questions as things move very fast throughout a LUX challenge

The goal of this challenge is to take the provided design problem, analyze the user experience and provide design concepts and visual ideas on how the application might look and work.

Background:
Our customer is creating a desktop application that can display various physical data inputs and video so they can analyze the reactions and sentiment of the people they are interacting with.

This application will help different teams who are deployed around the world work, support and understand immediate assistance needs of a village, provide medical aid, or assessing threats scenarios.

The different teams will be equipped with a multitude of sensors to capture data (data sources discussed later) with people they will be interacting with (in these high stress or risk situations). Using this data, they would like to have a better idea if they are responding properly (beyond language) to the situation.

Design Problem
After an interaction, the application user will analyze the sensor data within the application. We are looking to quickly provide design concepts for the potential visual designs, the user experience of analyzing this information.

Design Consideration
Think about designing a desktop application that provides a user the ability to drill down into all of the different sensor data to draw conclusions. They should be able to see a high-level state of information across a time scale, identify abnormalities, and have the ability to drill down into multiple data points. The application could also propose/alert the user of extreme variances as needed.

Sensor information to think about
Eye-Tracking sensors
- Pupil diameter over time
- A simple time series plot output
- Shows the direction the subject is looking

Photon-X Camera
- Captures video (128x128 pixels, 10 fps)

Audio Sensors
- An audio recording of the interviews

Heart Rate Monitor
- Shows a subject current heart rate
- Calculates the heart rate variability

Microphone + Accelerometer
- Breathing rate
- Posture while standing/sitting

Suggested Screens
Make sure you show enough screens/ user flows so that we understand the functionality, how things work, and the features that are available to the analyst user.
These are suggestions - you can modify as needed
- Make sure that you are including the most information for each screen
- The user needs to be able to read the information efficiently and make intelligent decisions.
- The UI should be streamlined and easy/ fast to use and understand
- This application is for desktop only
- Label your design files correctly so that we know the screen order
- The application UI will need to be lightweight, as the sensor data and videos will consume a lot of RAM.
- We are not concerned about user roles at this time

Screens
The application operator will be sitting down at a desktop computer, using the system to do a deep analysis of the sensor data obtained during an interview.

01) Main Screen/Dashboard
- The screen is the primary screen a user sees once they log in the application
- A library showing a list of saved videos
- For each video, we should be able to see specific information such as the date, time, location, duration, tags, etc.
- The ability to upload/download a video
- Any immediate statistics relevant to their location
- Recent Videos or recent accessed videos, most viewed videos (other ideas here to make the dashboard relevant?)

02) Video Drill-In
- We enter this screen after clicking on a specific video from the main screen
- IMPORTANT: This screen is based entirely on a time scale. There should be an intuitive slider than moves the user through the data
The slider will move users through the video, audio, and all other sensor data collected over time
We should be able to see the…
-- Video input
-- Audio input
-- Transcript from video
-- A search bar to search through the transcript
-- Notes applied by the user
-- A breakout of other sensor data
-- Correlations between data points

03) Log In screen
- The first screen available when coming to the application
-- User needs to put in their account name, password information to log in
-- Ideas around additional security measures are a plus

04) Additional Concepts
-Anything else you think would be useful? Do not add something to "add it" make sure it fits into the need.

05) Presentation Screen - 1920x1080 (16:9 Ratio)
- In a LUX challenge, this screen is very important to make it look good!
- If you were walking into a meeting and needed to sell your idea - use this screen to showcase your concept.
- DO NOT put extra text on this screen - use it to showcase your application!

Target Audience
- A single application operator (in a possibly stressful situation) analyzing sensor data collected during interviews
- This is a behavior and sentiment analysis application. Users will have some background/training in evaluating the data presented in the app.

MarvelApp Prototype
- Your designs must be uploaded to the marvelapp.
- Please send your marvel app request to csystic@gmail.com or in the challenge forum
- You MUST include your MarvelApp URL (in your marvel app prototype, click on share and then copy the link & share it within your notes while you upload).

Judging Criteria
- Concepts! How do you tackle simplifying this experience?
- Presentation! This is critical!
- Great modern user interface combined with good usability
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design
- Your design concepts should be possible to build and implement.
- Creativity and simplicity are the keys to success as it must be engaging to users

Submission & Source Files
Preview Image
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place your submissions within it.

Submission File
- Please upload PNG images in a zip file with all requested contest requirements stated above. Number your files (01, 02, 03, etc) this will help review them in order.
- Please submit documentation in pdf format with as many pages and images as required to explain your design and solution

Source Files
- All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop(PSD) or Illustrator (AI) or Sketch or Adobe XD

Final Fixes
Note: This LUX could have final fixes

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

How To Submit

  • New to Studio? ‌Learn how to compete here
  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.
