Background Information
Our customer Juno has been running multiple projects with Topcoder for a while with different business units of their organization. Now they want to have a scoreboard to keep track of "medals" that they award to business units that complete the most projects with Topcoder. It is currently tracked via standard spreadsheets and slides.
- Golden Medal: are awarded for business units which have have challenges that have been launched
- Silver Medal: are awarded for those business units which have projects where the requirements provided by the customer are sufficient to prepare a proposal
- Bronze Medal: are awarded to the business units which have uploaded their project requirements into the platform only
This will be shared throughout the Juno organization to the highest levels – think management, CEO, CIO, etc. so we would like to make it look amazing conceptual and visual. They will be published quarterly on Facebook Workplace and used often with Google Slides.
You can check this spreadsheet to see what the customer is using now for tracking medals. We’d like you to use this data in your design, but you don’t have to be strict by it as we will be updating it. We are interested more in the concept part of the design.
In the spreadsheet, you can notice how some of the business units, don’t have countries associated with them but the Juno (J) blue logo. The reason for this is that Juno has different Business Units which are geographically based (UK, ZNA, Japan, etc.). They also have different "Group Functions" catering to provide services (like, Marketing, IT, HR) to different Business Units. The entries with the Juno logo are Group Functions and they are separate entities. They don't belong to a common entity, but for the sake of consistency (as all Business Units have a flag), they have attached the generic Juno logo.
We need the customer to be able to update these presentation slide later so your design should be created in Google Slide. If you have graphic elements, like icons, banners, etc. that won’t be changed, you can use any design tool for them such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Sketch, etc. and saved as editable layer.
In this challenge we would like to create 3 different types of scoreboards:
1. Scoreboard by Region (Geographic)
Juno has different business units (BU-GF) all across the world as you can observe in the spreadsheet. We want to create the medal count scoreboard for all business units in the countries grouped by region (focus only on business units who have a flag next to them - exclude those marked with “J”):
- LATAM – NA (Latin America and North America)
- APAC (Asia-Pacific)
- EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa)
2. Scoreboard by Business Units (Non Geographic)
This scoreboard should show the Business Units (BU – GF) who have launched most challenges within the month and mention the type of project for each of them (data science/design/dev/QA). For this scoreboard type we want to focus only on the Non-Geographical Business Units (those marked with a “J” in a blue circle).
You can see in the spreadsheet the total number of medals a business unit has. For the project types, you can come up with any numbers as we don’t have that data yet.
3. Scoreboard by the Project Type (Geographic and Non Geographic)
Create a scoreboard based on the type of project: design, development, data science, QA. Feel free to come up with the numbers for each project type, as we will use the real data from the customer later. For this scoreboard type we want to focus only on both Geographical and the Non-Geographical Business Units (those marked with a “J” in a blue circle). We are interested now to see more of the concept design for this.
As we are designing for managers, CEO, COO, etc. you should try to make the design easy to understand and visually exciting.
Note: ideally we would like to have 1 page designed for each scoreboard but if the scoreboards are too busy, then for Geos and Business Units that have zero projects, we can create a forth screen titled "Innovation Laggards".
4. Innovation Laggards
This screen should focus on those Geographical and Non-Geographical Business Units that have zero projects and didn’t fit on the previous 3 scorecards. The page title would be “Innovation Laggards” and it will just list those Business Units until they complete a projects and than they can get moved to the scoreboard.
Keep in Mind!
We’d like the data in Google Slide to be as much as possible editable (especially all the text), but we are aware that some of the design elements (as graphs, maps, etc.) might not be easy to update in Google Drive. If you decide to create those elements in any other design tool, make sure you keep them vector so we can update them later.
Example: here are some example (facebook ad 1 and facebook ad 2) of some exciting Facebook ads we previously did for the Juno customer.
Branding Guidelines
- The style of the designs is up to you. We want the design to be modern, lively and stand up so think about making this visually exciting.
- Typography: you should use as primary font Frutiger family and as secondary option the Garamond font family.
Target Audience
- Juno managers all over the world so they can see how their team ranks and to gamify their crowdsourcing experience.
