Challenge Summary

Welcome to another RUX Challenge! The RUX is a "Rapid User Experience Design Challenge" that we like to run to gather quick ideas towards solving visual and user experience design problems.

The goal of the "RUX - Health and Wealth Mobile App Design Concepts Challenge" is to take the provided design problem and create a simple and clean mobile user experience. We are looking for you to think through how the application will be used and what new ideas/concepts you think might be useful for the end-user.

Let us know if you have any questions!

THE DESIGN PROBLEM
  • In this challenge, we are looking to rethink, redesign and reimagine the employee benefits (phone) journey and experience. We are looking for design concepts that provide an employee with and engaging health and wealth benefits management experience and provides them the ability to self-service their benefits. We want to make sure employees are able to quickly find the right level of information, in the right context, at the right time, on their mobile device.
  • Our customer is a leading provider of human resourcing (HR) solutions. They help their customers navigate the complexity of health, wealth and HR. They are using the latest technologies, data, and research to drive better HR experiences with more personalized care which creates a better customer experience.
  • Currently, employee benefit programs are primary desktop-based due to the ease-of-use and the amount of data that might be involved. Our customer is looking to explore mobile design concepts to help change this and allow for "on-the-go" management by users and the ability to let data-driven communication really create a more proactive and enriching experience.

THE ASK
  • Design a mobile (phone) application for a participant of an Employee Benefit Scheme
    • Look at the provided wireframes and research to see what is expected in an Employee Benefits App. (Do not copy the wireframes - they are research for you)
    • Look to design ways to improve the engagement of participants and app adoption rates.
    • The application will help the employee understand their overall wellness (mind, body, wealth, etc.)

DEFINITIONS
  • Employee Benefits Schemes include:
    • Health plan, Vision plan, Dental plan
    • Wealth plan – 401K (retirement saving plan)
    • Participant – an employee that receives benefits through their company and uses the mobile application.

KEY AREA TO FOCUS
  • Why would a participant use a mobile app instead of their desktop Benefits web portal?
    • Maybe they lack access to a computer
    • They are on the go,
    • Quickly need to update or find out benefit information
    • Search for Doctors in their plan
    • Need to look something up quickly
    • The app alerts them of an important change (after getting a raise it suggests they update their 401k plan)
    • A participant has a new bank and they want to update the information
    • After an injury, they want to track their claim
    • Thoughts??
  • What kind of information would the participant want or need to see on the app (priority)
  • What kind of tutorial or education (on Employee Benefits) would a participant be interested in (in order to make a smart decision while choosing benefits provided by their employer)
  • What kind of transactions does a participant perform on the mobile app (important!)
  • How does the application provide a personalized experience tailored to each individual participant, for example:
    • The participant is notified they did not get their annual check-up (and the app provides a quick way to schedule it)
    • The participant is notified or see's that they need to contribute more money to their 401k plan in order to receive key benefits like a full employer match.
  • How do you increase engagement (i.e., app usage) of the participant

SCREENS
  • This challenge is truly a design concept challenge. We are providing wireframes to help you learn and understand about this type of application. We are not looking for you to copy/create the wireframes (we can do that). What we are looking for is a variety of approaches to this design problem. We are looking to engage participants in a more integrated personalized mobile experience that improves their lives and how they work.
  • In the forum, we will provide the branding details. Please note that our customer provides these services to companies so typically their app is used with their customer's logo and colors.

01) Login Screen
  • Not a priority for the rolling checkpoint but we do need to understand the login flow.
  • An interactive login screen to welcome the user
  • The first-time user onboarding experience
  • Treat this as a marketing page too for a non-logged in user to notify them about the application purpose and benefit.
  • App logo (can be a placeholder for now)
  • How do we greet the user when they open the application? How do we ensure they get the best personal experience when using the app? A wizard to collect information? Guidance to explore the app? Personal references? etc

02) Dashboard Screen
  • See wireframe - but think of the asks in the design problem
  • Key screen and experience for the user (what is included here)
  • This screen welcomes the user and gives a snapshot of their enrolled benefits and progress
  • Possible wizard to walk them through the benefits of the mobile application
  • Notification and Suggestion about any available open benefits/offers that user can check and enroll if they interested
  • Go beyond these asks… what should be here??

3-8) Screens you provide
  • We are looking for up to 8 screens in your flow/experience
  • What should be in this application?
  • What is critical to the flow?
  • There are 3 categories of employee benefits that need to be available in the app, they are:
    • Health (Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Saving Account, etc)
    • Wealth (401K/Retirements Plans, Stock options, etc)
    • Wellness (Health wellness, Wealth wellness, etc)

SCREEN SIZE AND DEVICE
  • As this is a mobile application you will be working on creating your concepts for: iPhone 6/7/8: 750px width and 1334px height.

BRANDING
  • Please see the forum for details

MARVEL PROTOTYPE
  • We need you to upload your screens to MarvelApp
