Challenge Summary

Welcome to “FAST! Perfect Day as a Topcoder Gig Worker - Ideation Challenge”. The goal of this challenge is to quickly create and generate guidance for our on-site Topcoder team (adroc, hmehta, will_price, mtwomey, mmorris, Oanh.Tran) over the next 12 hours. Our team has a presentation in 3 days focused on "what the Topcoder Platform will look like in 5 years from now" and we are looking to kick things off with thoughts and ideas (crowdsourced with you!). This is purely paper napkin style ideation and it is FAST but we do need you to follow the provided guidelines mentioned below.
IDEAS - THE QUESTIONS
  • Ideation Question: A day in the life of a fulfilled Topcoder gig worker:
  • What would it take to go from a part-time Topcoder to full-time Topcoder
  • Ideation of what benefits you are interested in (what matters to you)
  • What are you willing to do to earn a tier that provides benefits
  • What would make things easier to use? Mobile, Voice?
  • Localization benefits

IDEAS - SOME BRAINSTORMING AND THOUGHTS
The following is the result of a quick brainstorming session with the workshop team, we provide this only as your references to help you start your creative idea process. This area is wide open for any creative and innovative ideas, suggest anything on your mind:
  • By improving the scoring system (members activeness)? The more activity in the platform, the more benefits a member might receive? What benefits are you interested in? (Ex: Healthcare insurance, Retirement savings, what is important to you?)
  • Career Path? Focus on building a specific career path for members (via combining challenges, THRIVE articles, Bootcamp, Online Mentoring, Discussions, etc?) - How can we set up the goals, the step by step, tracking progress, and how can we support here?
  • The Experts - similar to Google Expert, it's a certification/recognition, how can we make our members being recognized worldwide and make them proud as a Topcoder Gig Worker?
  • Scoring or tier system to have access to different benefits? What benefits matter?
  • Scoring or tier system to pay top-tier members who submit (no matter of outcome)
  • Some Boundaries:
    • We will keep competitions/challenges available in the platform
    • We will keep Private Task/Direct Tasks/TaaS
