Design Problem
How will Topcoder potentially look in 5 years? Imagine a Tinder type app for gig workers or a virtual assistant for getting everything done through the gig economy: anything, food, travel, software, design - this is what we envision for this app. The application will be based on voice interaction mostly and will be AI driven. Basically this will be a Frictionless Match Making application between the customer and the worker. Imagine that the customer and the talent could ask for any of the things below and many more:
Customer
- “Topcoder, I want to do X, What do I need to do that?”
- “Topcoder, I just had an idea. How big is the market for X?”
- “Topcoder, I need to build a presentation of my idea for X”
- “Topcoder, I need to crowd fund my idea”
Member
- “Topcoder, what can I do?”
- “Topcoder, how do I earn $ in the gig economy”?
- “Topcoder, can you help me learn how to build xyz apps?”
- “Topcoder, are there any gigs I can work on today from 1-4pm?”
- “Topcoder, I have 2 hours free time. What gig can I take?”
Think of the customer as a person who could do anything through Topcoder, from getting to a meeting by asking for a taxi to pick him up to get there, to using Topcoder site to help him prepare the presentation and how to get to the meeting itself.
Any person can be a worker and a customer as well for different tasks. The possibilities are endless!
In order to bring this application to life, the first step is to create an Universal Identity Profile for a person where all his experience and achievements would be included. This profile would include people and skills not only from the IT world but anything else: bankers, writers, sellers, artists, etc. In such a digital world, everyone has a presence online. The scope of this challenge is to create this universal profile.
Below are a couple of things, we’re thinking of including in the application, but feel free to come up with your own ideas (we’re looking for concept designs here):
- User’s handle, photo and location
- Skills section will be based on what the user enters, but also pulled from his work experience and proof. The skills will be technical and social as well.
- Work experience resume: this data can be pulled down from sites like Linkedln, AngelList, Xing, Hired, etc.
- Work experience proof: the information here would come from sites like Topcoder, Upwork, Gigster, Freelancer, Kaggle, Fiverr, Toptal, etc. The work period and experience should show from which site was the data taken.
- Portfolio: would include work from sites like: Dribbble, Behance (for design), Github, Gitlab (developers), 500px (photographers), etc.
- Achievements: are obtained when working at different companies or online, people can do an outstanding job and get rewarded for those with different titles. This can be shown using gamification/ badges.
- Education: this section will focus on pulling data for the studies a person did onsite as schools and universities in their cities, but also courses they did online on platforms like The Trust Learner Network, edX, Udacity, PluralSight, etc.
- Certifications: Many of these learning institutions are giving certifications for their courses so that would be good to show as well.
- Volunteering: show what sort of actions was the member involved in
- Recommendations/testimonials: this section can include data pulled from several sites, where our user was recommended by his connections/ people he worked with
- Badges: based on the person’s activity on the current platform he/ she can get different badges for achievements
- Rating: for each gig a user takes he will be rated by the customer for his performance on current site, based on several criterias (delivery in time, work quality, etc.)
- What other things do you think this page should include?
Size:
Width x Height: 1400px x height as much as necessary
