CHALLENGE OBJECTIVES
Create a simple and easy to use mobile app where users can make a reservation and experience a new way of enjoying food.

BACKGROUND OVERVIEW
Our client is a food services and facilities management company looking to design a simple mobile app to make reservation and experience a new way of enjoying food.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Food enthusiast / Diners using the App

PERSONA
  • Name: Janet Brigs
  • Jobs: Food blogger / Food enthusiast
  • Goals: Having a pleasant experience when dining in a restaurant.
  • Wants:
    • Simple way to make a reservation and have a pleasant dining experience..
    • Easy to find reserved table.
    • Better experience viewing the menu and ordering the food from her phone.
USER STORY
  • Janet and her husband want to celebrate their anniversary at a fine dining restaurant in her town. She opens the app and tries to input the restaurant name and make a reservation for two people over the weekend. After inputting the date and time, she can access a screen where she can see the layout of the table in the restaurant and decide to have outdoor seating. She then gets confirmation that her booking is set.
  • When Janet and her husband arrived at the restaurant, she received a notification that they arrived at the restaurant. After she taps on the notification, the App opens and shows a layout of the restaurant and guides them to reach the table that she chose earlier.
  • At the table, there is a sign suggesting she can view the menu and order using QR code. She scans the QR code and sees a menu with food photos with name, price, and brief information about the food. She then selects the food and drink she wanted to order and puts a note that her husband is allergic to gluten.
  • When the food is served, she then takes a photo of their food using the app and can see three buttons where she can - View the ingredients on the food, Watch a video on how the food was prepared, and Chat personally with the chef. She chooses to watch the video while waiting for another food to be served.
  • After finishing the food, she leaves a 5 star rating and comments about the food they order which is fabulous and makes her anniversary a success.
  • She then proceeded to the payment screen. After reviewing the total amount, she selects to pay using a credit card and taps the pay button to confirm.

  • There is no branding guideline provided, so it’s up to your discretion on how the app will look like.
