Challenge Summary
Welcome to the "DViz - Prediction Analysis Tableau Dashboard Design Concepts Challenge".
In this challenge, we are looking for you to come up with predictive analysis dashboard visualizations that will predict which customers will most likely cancel the order or who will proceed the order without canceling (in the backend we will make use of an algorithm to do this process). This enables us to contact those customers who are more likely to cancel and make a better conversion in sales.
Read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. Let us know if you have any questions in the challenge forum!
We are really excited to kick off this DViz Design Concepts Challenge.
CHALLENGE OBJECTIVES
- Web Application
- 3 Screens
Round 1
Submit your initial designs for a checkpoint feedback
01 Purchase Order Dashboard
02 Prediction Analysis Dashboard
- As part of your checkpoint submission, you must upload your submission to MarvelApp so we can provide direct feedback on your designs. Please include the MarvelApp URL in your notes.txt
- Make sure all pages have the correct flow. Use the proper file numbers, (1, 2, 3, etc.)a
Round 2
Submit your final designs with all checkpoint feedback implemented.
01 Purchase Order Dashboard
02 Prediction Analysis Dashboard
03 Conversion Dashboard
- As part of your Final submission, you must replace your checkpoint submission with the final submission into MarvelApp so we can provide direct feedback on your designs. Please include the MarvelApp URL in your notes.txt
- Make sure all pages have the correct flow. Use the proper file numbers, (1, 2, 3, etc.)
- If you're not submitting in the Checkpoint/Round 1, you are not eligible to submit in the Final/Round 2
The purpose of the dashboard is to give an overview and running status of the ordering process, as well as the status of the new orders. Cancelled, Open and Released Orders and their dates and details. Customer profile and customer segmentation related details as well.
An algorithm will be used to predict the likelihood of orders getting canceled due to lack of insurance coverage or other such reasons. Action taken and conversion rates etc will also be calculated and shown.
Customer of this challenge is engaged in selling medical devices. Currently, these medical device sales conversion is low at 38% (shipped customers VS total potential new customers).
- Biggest hurdle in the current process is that we are unable to identify the customer’s potential to buy or whether they will be cancelling the order.
- This new predictive model will help us segment customers into likelihood of Confirmers, Non-Conformers and MayBe’s.
- This way we can focus outreach and engagement towards Non-Conformers and MayBe’s.
AUDIENCE:
- Business Decision Maker, Sales, Operations
GETTING STARTED WITH TABLEAU
- If you are new to Tableau , take a look at this quick video to learn: https://www.Tableau .com/learn/training
- Also we suggest you to go through these webinars which will really improve your skills in Tableau : https://www.Tableau .com/learn/webinars
- To create a dashboard, you need to create required worksheets and then include them within the dashboards and follow the layout/design as shown in provided dashboard design. Take a look at this quick videos to get started on dashboards

DESIGN GOALS & PRINCIPLES
Below are some of the goals:
- Try not to have too much information on your screen, you can make them compelling by making the visualization interactive and enable users to walk through or drill into the different insights.
- Elegant, clean, simple, user-centered look and feel with modern aesthetics
- Use color, visual comparison, and drill-down charts to highlight comparison.
- The overall design and user experienc
- Engaging and easy-to-use/interact UI
- How well does your design align with the objectives of the challenge
- Intuitive experience for end customers
- Developer friendly and easy to build designs
- Allow a different variety of charts and data visualization. Think on filtering, sorting and exporting the data.
EXPLORATION SCORE
In terms of expectations, we would like to measure the concept against the following in the one to ten scales (ask the client to rate each of the parameters)
Creativity: 10
- 1: barely new ideas
- 10: a utopic product but with features that can be fully implemented
Aesthetics: 8
- 1: low-fidelity design, wireframe, or plain sketch
- 10: top-notch finished looking visual design
Exploration: 8
- 1: strictly follow an existing reference or production guideline
- 10: open to alternative workflows/features not listed here that would help the overall application
Branding: 6
- 1: don’t care at all about the branding just functionality
- 10: without a properly branded product there is no success
GLOSSARY
- AI : Artificial Intelligence
- Algorithm : a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer.
- Predictive Analysis : analyze current and historical facts to make predictions about future or otherwise unknown events
- Sales Conversion : measures the effectiveness of the sales team at converting leads into new customers.
There are no branding guidelines for this challenge, so it is open to designers
TARGET DEVICE
- Desktop: 1366px width and height as required
SCREEN REQUIREMENTS
For this challenge, we are looking for the below screens to be created in your submission. Also we are open to any additional screens, features for this concept. The functionality details listed below need to be included in your solution:
01 Purchase Order Dashboard:
Below are some of the statistics that need to be shown on this dashboard:
- Show the total number of orders
- Show how many orders are open, cancelled or released
- Show how many are likely to be cancelled, or released based on the algorithm
Table
User will be able to view the list of orders along with their status, you can include dummy data for the below
- Order ID
- Purchase Date
- Buyer
- Status
- Insurance Status
For all the “Open” orders, provide a way to indicate the predictive analysis results, whether they are more likely to cancel or will be proceeding with the order / we are open to ideas on how we need to visualize this information on the dashboard (for ex: may be color coding - green pass through, red/orange - likely to cancel or even having it as a percentage/score would also good idea)
Provide a way for the user to drill-down into the details of the orders which will be redirected to next page (Prediction Analysis Dashboard)
Filters:
- The user should be able to view the last 6 months of data or 1 year or maybe quarter or maybe custom date range?
- Allow the user to filter the orders based on its status
02 Prediction Analysis Dashboard:
- This will be drilled down from the previous dashboard table.
- Individual records of data are shown here, users can see more details of patient/ insurance.
- Also, it will be good to show some visualization or have some text that shows the reason why the order is more likely to cancel (For eg. insurance is expiring) or get through.
- In case of cancellation or delay in get through for highly likelihood orders, user can follow up with that consumer through:
- Phone Call
- Lead through using pharmacy
- So, include a button for Phone call, Email, Pharmacy - clicking on this user will be navigated to an external app.
03 Conversion Dashboard:
This dashboard should include data as described below, you also need showing graphs for each data. Conversion below will be referring to how many orders that were predicted as cancelled were converted to pass through.
- Cycle Time, Released Rate %: ,
- Cumulative Release Rate %,
- Convert Same Month,
- Convert Within 2 Months,
- Convert Within 3 Months,
- Convert Within 4 Months
We have provided some additional data, if you think any other metrics you think are good to be added here to support the goal - feel free to add them to the any of the dashboards
IMPORTANT
- Keep things consistent. This means all graphics styles should work together
- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance
- Your graphs should be compatible with Tableau
MARVEL PROTOTYPE
- We need you to upload your screens to Marvel App
- Please request for marvel app in the challenge forum
- You MUST include your Marvel app URL (in your marvel app prototype, click on share and then copy the link & share it with your notes/comment on this link while you upload)
SUBMISSION AND SOURCE FILES
Submission File
- Submit all JPG/PNG image files based on Challenge submission requirements stated above
Source File
- All source files of all graphics created in either Adobe XD or Sketch or Figma and saved as an editable layer
Declaration File
Declaration files document contains the following information:
- Stock Photos Name and Source Links from an allowed sources
