Welcome to the "[48 Hrs] Odyssey - Online Banking UX Testing Challenge Part 2". In this challenge, we are looking for you to help do user experience testing on our recently designed application. Please make sure to read the challenge rules and steps carefully. Ask any questions in the forum and good luck!


WHAT IS A UX TESTING CHALLENGE?

  • UX Testing is a new challenge type at Topcoder and is open to anyone, not just designers.
  • We are looking to get real-world testing on the usability of the designed application. It's important to note that this is a not fully functional application, but rather a design prototype (connected via links/hotspots). 
  • Because of this, we are not looking to test quality or the underlying code like our normal QA testing, but rather the general user experience via direct tasks prepared for selected members. 
  • We are looking to gather some quick metrics and data and identify any potential issues early in the design process so we can continue to improve the experience.
  • This challenge is open for 48 hours and anyone can join! Please read the challenge rules and process below carefully


HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHALLENGE?

  • Please register for the challenge 
  • Request testing URL in the challenge forum
  • We will send the unique testing URL to your email (the email you registered to Topcoder)
  • You can request the testing URLs until the submission phase ends (48 Hours)
  • The UX Testing will be happening in the Marvel app
  • In the Marvel introduction screen, under the “Your Name” field, enter your topcoder account/handle and enter the email that you use in topcoder
  • Go through each testing scenario. You need to finish all testing scenarios in one sitting (complete or not complete doesn’t matter). This means you cannot start the testing and then resume later. The test should not take your time too long to complete. 
  • Once you are done with the test, you will land on a completion screen. Please take a screenshot from one of the scenario completion screens and send it as your "submission" for the challenge. This step is VERY IMPORTANT to make sure we can process your payment if you’re selected as one of the winners


UX TESTING REQUIREMENTS

  • We have prepared several UX Testing Experiences that will be tested using the MarvelApp platform. 
  • You MUST allow recording features (microphone and cameras) when doing the UX testing.
  • Please make sure to enter your handle/Topcoder username before starting the UX testing
  • When doing the testing, you must follow the instructions provided and explore experiences to find the path and complete the tasks
  • In this challenge, you MUST complete the following UX Testing items:
    • Scenario 6 - View Account Details Information
    • Scenario 7 - Make CHAPS Payment for UK Payee
    • Scenario 8 - Update UK Payee
    • Scenario 9 - Cancel Standing Order
  • The testing phase will have 48 hours duration, however, each UX testing experience will probably only take 2-5 minutes to be completed
  • Every time you are done with one of the scenarios, please fill the feedback survey provided on the completion screen


UX TESTING RULES

  • You are only allowed to complete each UX testing once
  • If you found the Mission is too hard to complete, you can end the mission and continue to the next mission. We want to test the user experience here, so it doesn't matter if you can or cannot complete the mission (give up) because this just means that the website has a good or bad user experience.
  • Take the testing seriously. We will be monitoring each tester for this particular behavior, Do not try to complete the test as quickly as possible. You are not being evaluated on speed. We need real-world data, so make sure you are reading each test carefully and then moving through the application in how you think you would complete the request. Remember we are testing the usability and user flows of the application.
  • Do not try to cheat by randomly clicking around the screens until something works. We will be monitoring for this type of behavior and you will be ineligible for a prize if you participate in this manner.
  • 20 selected members/participants that successfully complete the test will receive a $25 payment each


ELIGIBILITY

  • This challenge is open to anyone in the Topcoder community. Background and skill level are not a factor. Jump in and give it shot! 


TARGET USER

  • Individual or Business Customer that already open a Bank account and want to use the Online Banking and/or Mobile Banking Features


PRIZES

  • 20 placements at $25 each
  • Winners will be chosen by selecting members that submitted to the challenge + complete the missions + provide valuable feedback
  • Only 1 payment per member/participant (multiple submissions/ test not accepted)

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

SUBMISSION FORMAT:

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.

Screening:

All submissions are screened for eligibility before the challenge holder picks winners. Don't let your hard work go to waste. Learn more about how to  pass screening.
