Challenge Summary

Welcome to "FAST - This Week at Topcoder Rebranding Challenge". In this challenge, we need to create supporting graphics that will be used for the new format of weekly meetup between Topcoder community team and all Topcoder members that is usually being held every Monday morning Topcoder time.  

Read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. Let us know if you have any questions in the challenge forum!

CHALLENGE OBJECTIVES

  • Make our This Week at Topcoder a more welcoming place as well as a better description of what it really is
  • Create new supporting graphics that able to reflect the new rebranding effort for Community team weekly meetup with all Topcoder members
  • Please come up with an eye-catching, attractive way of presenting all Community team members so it can be easily recognized by other Topcoder members
  • The graphics theme and main goals is to individualizing and presenting the people behind Topcoder community team that any Topcoder members can reach out and get to talk to
  • Design should consider the Topcoder brand but we want it to be evolve to the next level
  • Shows the listed Topcoder community team members, their names and/or handle, country, etc it's open to all


TARGET AUDIENCE

  • New and Veteran Topcoder Members
  • People who are interested in freelance work


DESIGN GOALS & PRINCIPLES

  • The designs have to be visually appealing and engaging. Make sure the design is clean cut, professional, and simple
  • The Topcoder brand should be taken into account but we really open to evolve the design to the next level, introduce new elements outside the blob elements but still support the brand


SCREEN REQUIREMENTS

  • The Topcoder Community team meetup with all Topcoder members event usually called  "This Week at Topcoder", we want to change/rebranding the name into "Community Monday Meetup", please make sure to use the new name in your graphics
  • The schedule for this meetup is usually happen every week on Mondays at 10:00 (Topcoder time) 
  • The description of the event is: "Join your community team for a fun meetup every week! We will share what’s happening, new programs or events, and be there for you to answer any questions you may have. Let us help you be more a part of our community. All are welcome!"
  • This is the important one, your design needs to show pictures of these Topcoder community team members below (show pictures, their name/handle, country). We really want to humanize and show who we are and the community as a whole. However it is VERY IMPORTANT to note that we do not want only actual headshots of just these people. We want to show people on the team we can point out but also other team members, community members, etc. There is no hierarchy - don’t make Adam huge or Jessie huge. We are all one community. Titles are not needed.
  • Please create the following banners/graphics with the new name, theme, and all informations above in the following sizes (Your design should have the same consistent concept in all sizes):
01) Banners
  • Social Media graphics:
    • Facebook: 1200px x 630px (width x height)
    • Instagram: 1080px x 1080px (width x height)
    • Twitter: 600px x 335px (width x height)
    • LinkedIn: 1200px x 627px (width x height)
    • Email signature: 650px x 150px (width x height)
    • Forums: 834px x 250px (width x height)
    • Banner on Topcoder Contact Us page: 357px x 250px (width x height)
    • /home banner: 664px x 330px (width x height)
    • Zoom banners: 640px x 200px (width x height)
  • The graphics theme and main goals is to individualizing and presenting the people behind Topcoder community team that any Topcoder members can reach out and get to talk to, it also needs to be able to makes the viewer wants to join the community meetup  
  • Please feel free to create design variation for the graphics if you want to
  • Please feel free to showcase and put your design into a sample mockup of the targeted platform to see how it will look in real life. If you need marvel app for the showcase, let us know in the forum

02) Landing Page
  • This page should be very simple. We will drive people here from different ads on social media. Once they click on the Sign Up button they would be taken to the Zoom webinar page. This page would have the same theme as the banners above.
  • Content:
    • Size: 1440px width x height as needed (keep things simple above the fold)
    • Title: Community Monday Meetup
    • Description: "Join your community team for a fun meetup every week! We will share what’s happening, new programs or events, and be there for you to answer any questions you may have. Let us help you be more a part of our community. All are welcome!"
    • Yellow button "Sign Up"


CHALLENGE FORUM


BRANDING GUIDELINES

  • Use the Topcoder GUI Kit as reference, we want you to stay within the boundaries but still push it a little bit more, we don’t want the design to be so heavy on brand with the blobs and such, let's evolve the design and make them fun  
  • Fonts: you may only use fonts that are specified in the GUI Kit (Barlow, Barlow Condensed and Roboto)
  • Colors: use available colors in the GUI Kit
  • Photos: you may only use photos from Topcoder’s Flickr albums (don't focus too much on headshots try to use more group shots or make them look like groups)
  • To get an idea of the style we use for banner and promos, can check Topcoder on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/topcoder/ 
  • Please find other documentations in challenge forum: 
    • Icons: you may only use icons from the Streamline icon
    • Topcoder Logo and Community Strong Logo (both needs to be added in your design)
    • Sample Topcoder style design (you need to IMPROVE and EVOLVE it!) from different project
    • Photos of Topcoder community member that is not available in Flickr album

  • Creativity: Impactful - the solution is different or unique from what is already out there and can be implemented.
  • Exploration: Flexible - follow the provided screen requirements section and propose improvements or different paths that positively impact the user goals.
  • Aesthetics: Hi-fidelity design - provide a top-notch finished-looking visual artifact
  • Branding: Flexible - follow the provided guidelines and suggest improvements where seem appropriate and inline with the goals


FINAL DELIVERABLES

  • You have to submit a single zip file that includes the following 3 items:
    • Source.zip, All original source files either in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, Sketch or Figma.
    • Submission.zip, all your graphic design creations exported as JPGs/PNGs
    • Declaration.txt, A text file that contains all the notes about font usage, photo and icon declarations and your Marvel project URL 


FINAL FIXES

  • As part of the final fixes phase, you may be asked to modify your files, add or remove screens or combine details to create a final presentation.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.

All submissions are screened for eligibility before the challenge holder picks winners. Don't let your hard work go to waste. Learn more about how to  pass screening.
