Challenge Overview

We would like to have a browser plugin(chrome and possibly firefox) created that can monitor http calls and responses to commonly used operations(eg: sending an email, opening an email, opening a document in drive, etc...) in google apps. The plugin would gather data on the length of time and success/fail status of monitored calls and periodically send the gathered data to one of our servers(possibly a google app engine application) via an api call.
This plugin could be deployed on all of our workstations to provide valuable user experience data to assist in determining impact of outages and potentially alert on new widespread outages allowing a more proactive approach in service outage management. Data gathered could also be used for reporting/trending to try and find common threads(location, browser, type of hardware/OS, etc...) in cases where service is impacted. |
