The Challenge

A Swiss global bank needed a refreshed user interface for an internal tool used by financial advisors. This tool helps manage client portfolios, access important documentation, and monitor financial products. The existing application had grown outdated and lacked the clean, efficient design needed for advisors to work quickly and accurately.

The goal was to redesign three high-priority screens that would significantly impact usability: the Portfolio, Overview, and Portfolio - Accounts screens. Given this was a fast-paced challenge, clarity and visual consistency were critical.

The Solution

Through Topcoder’s crowdsourcing model, the customer ran a fast-turnaround design challenge focused on visual redesign and user experience improvement. Designers were tasked with reimagining the three key screens while maintaining the underlying functionality.

The updated designs made better use of white space, introduced clearer typographic hierarchy, and aligned with the customer’s brand guidelines. Special attention was given to how financial data and client documentation were presented, improving readability and ease of navigation.

The Result

The Impact

The redesign delivered production-ready UI concepts that improved the tool’s usability for customer’s financial advisors. It also helped them quickly explore multiple creative directions, receiving diverse ideas from a global talent pool in just a few days. The new interface reduced visual clutter, clarified client insights, and laid the groundwork for broader internal tool modernization.
